EASY BAKED APPLES WITH A HEALTHY CRUMBLE

Nothing symbolizes this season better than tasty baked apples and cinnamon. Try this delicious recipe (with a must-try Insta’ Oatmeal hack), which is a nutritious version of this classic favorite by adding our own twist.

The simplicity of this recipe makes it the perfect choice for an easy Autumn snack or dessert.

Our Insta’ Oatmeal, which we use for crumble, is high in fiber, organic, gluten-free, plant-based, with no added sugar and is made with only natural ingredients.

RECIPE – 8 HALF APPLES

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 apples (Baking time depends on which variety you choose)
  • 2 x Insta’ Oatmeal (We used the Apple & Cinnamon variety for this recipe, but both can be used)
  • A little extra cinnamon for the apples
  • 1-1.5 tbsp coconut oil (or another fat you prefer)
  • A tbsp of skyr / low-fat Greek yogurt to serve

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 175C (fan) /  350F degrees.
  2. Halve the apples and carefully  remove the core.
  3. Sprinkle cinnamon (you can mix cinnamon with a little date powder to sweeten the apples a bit more)
  4. Place the apples in a greased ovenproof dish and bake with foil for 15 min (to pre-cook them a little)
  5. Meanwhile, mix Apple-Cinnamon Insta’ Oatmeal with coconut oil in a bowl to create a delicious crumble.
  6. Fill and top the apple halves with crumble.
  7. Bake in the oven again for approx. 20-25 minutes or until the apples are tender and your crumble is golden. (bake with tin foil for the first 10 min, to avoid your crumble burning.
  8. Serve them warm with a tbsp of Greek or Icelandic yogurt.
